Only three years after it’s opening, the European Tour arrived at Oitavos Dunes for a Challenge Tour event, confirming the course’s stature as a Championship golf course.

This was the second professional event of the year at Oitavos, and it was now time to give the experienced, past Ryder Cup and Major contenders an opportunity to take on the course. Sam Torrance and Carl Mason were the main attractions.

The Estoril Seniors Championship was the season ending tournament with only the top 54 players of the order of Merit being invited to play. Demonstrating the same form he showed in previous weeks Carl Mason decimated the field and cruised to victory by an 8 shot margin.
